Georgia Cabins Wildlife at River Glorious
All pictures were taken at River Glorious rental cabin in Ellijay Georgia Mountains. When visiting River Glorious, please be cautious around all wildlife. These wild deer and bears are not tame or pets and can be dangerous if they feel threatened or cornered.
The deer really appreciate apples thrown out for them and visit frequently looking for a their apples. A steady parade of deer visitors will delight you.
Please respect their environment with peace and quiet and you will be rewarded with many wildlife sightings in the Walnut Mountain community.
Wildlife is permanently protected on Walnut Mountain. Birds of many different species from the small Eastern bluebird to majestic eagles, hawks, wild turkeys, grouse, quail and hummingbirds call Walnut Mountain their home. Deer, fox, bobcat, bear are frequently seen at Walnut Mountain. The Rich Mountains, where Walnut Mountain is located, are known for their large bear population.
Remember that a friendly bear can be an unpredictable bear.
The valet service is friendly, fast and attentive.
Many friendly deer can be seen at all hours of the day on the property. In addition to viewing the deer, you will most likely get a glimpse of black bears, bobcats, raccoons, river otters. The Rich Mountain Wildlife Area is a black bear refuge.
Bears can be seen, but carefully, from inside!!!!!!
Our neighbors are so friendly and welcoming!
If you see a bear give it plenty of room and stay clear! Do not try and feed the bear, even if it doesn't run. The bear may seem to be very friendly but can be dangerous. Leave it alone and do not feed it. If you see a bear with cubs, be very cautious! If you see cub by itself stay clear! The mother may be close, or even watching you, so turn, do not run, and leave it alone. Remember, a bear that isn't afraid of you is the one you need to watch!
Yikes! A bear on the front porch!!!!!! He just went on his way after exploring and eating an apple we accidentally left out on the outdoor table.
This same bear, after leaving his meal of one forgotten apple, continued to the neighbor's yard where it found a bag of trash in the back of the pick-up truck.
A neighboring cat and a deer check each other out!
Do you think the bears think that this sign means they are welcome?
Evening feeding in the fall.
Whne visiting the Ellijay apple orchards, be sure to bring back a few extra apples for our three legged friend. Amazingly this buck has survived in the mountains with only 3 limbs. He has no problem getting around but still, extra food helps him to continue to survive despite his disability.
