AMICALOLA FALLS GEORGIA
Amicalola Falls is located in Amicalola Falls state Park just a short and scenic drive through Apple Alley from the cabin. Amicalola Falls is the highest waterfall east of the Mississippi. In addition, Amicalola Falls State Park features hiking trails and picnic tables. The access trail to the Appalachian Trail is located right behind the visitors center.
In the Cherokee language, Amicalola Falls means, "tumbling waters," which is appropriate, given the natural wonders at this remarkable state park. At 729 feet, Amicalola Falls is the highest casading waterfall east of the Mississippi. Amicalola Falls beauty draws visitors from all over. Visitors are amazed at the spectacular beauty of the falls.
Amicalola Falls State Park marks the access trail to the Appalachian Trail. You can also begin a hike on the world famous Appalachian trail from the 8 mile approach trail that begins at Amicalola Falls State Park and goes for over 2100 miles to the terminus in Maine.
Even if you won't be hiking the Appalachina Trail, it is exciting to cheer on the hikers and greet those who hae completed the long trek.
